The Windows Activation Scam is a Trojan from the Rogue.Tech-Support-Scam family that displays a fake Windows activation screen when you login to Windows. This screen states that your product key is invalid and that you need to enter it again and can call the 1-888-414-4284 support number for help. Furthermore, every time you click on this screen, the infection will speak the message "Please activate your Window. Call to us on 1-888-414-4284". By the way, that is their horrible grammar and not mine.

Remove VMC Media Player and FatalError Tech Support Scams

This guide is for the VMC Media Player and Fatalerror Scam program from the Rogue.Tech-Support-Scam family. When this infection is installed it will pretend to be installing the VMC Media Player, but will instead install a file called fatalerror.exe, which display fake Windows crashes. It will then automatically shutdown your computer, while displaying a Thank You prompt. Once the computer reboots, your Windows desktop will be replaced with a fake Blue Screen of Death or BSOD.
